Meet our Doctors

Dr. John Kellogg

Dr. Kellogg

Dr. Kellogg is a graduate of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, with special interest in surgical procedures developed in his years in practice as a Veterinarian and continuing education.  His recipe for providing high quality care includes utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools, educating his clients, offering options, and recommending what he feels is the best course of care.  He strives to always be fair and honest with his clients, and is known to say “Here are the options we have, and I’ll tell you what I would do if this was my very own dog.”

Prior to moving to the metro area, “Doctor John” practiced as a Mixed Animal Veterinarian in rural Oregon and S.W. Washington, caring for cats, dogs, horses, and cattle.  Away from the clinic, he enjoys salmon and steelhead fishing on the Northwest’s rivers and lakes, and camping with his wife and their dog, Curly.  They share a home with three rescue cats and an adopted parakeet.

Dr. Leanne Byers

Dr. Beyers

Dr. Byers studied Veterinary medicine in Nova Scotia and graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island.  She completed her post graduate Internship at Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.  Practicing in the Seattle area for 10 years, she relocated to Portland in 2004.  Her areas of interest and expertise include well puppy and kitten care, internal medicine, and geriatric medicine.  She joined Burlingame Veterinary Clinic in 2007, and has much to offer our patients and their owners through client education, comprehensive disease management, as well as her medical intellect and curiosity, upbeat personality and compassion.

Maintaining a balanced life is important to Dr. Byers, and she keeps very busy with her clinic schedule and the joyous challenges of raising a young family.  She enjoys volunteering at her children’s schools and her church, reading the latest best selling novel, and loves anything to do with dance and fitness.   She recently adopted Chloe, an adult Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who is the center of attention at home.

Meet our Support Staff

Our Staff

Burlingame Veterinary Clinic staff are Certified Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants skilled in triaging medical issues and scheduling/recommending services, assisting our Doctors during exams & procedures, taking and processing blood and urine specimens, administering medications, and providing assistance to our Doctors before, during and after surgical procedures.  They are a very visible part of your pet’s care, and provide TLC to our patients.

Shake Paws with Curly

Curly is probably the most popular member of the Burlingame Vet team.  He was brought to the clinic in need of medical and surgical care by a local rescue shelter.  While under our care, Curly had a twinkle in his eye no matter how scared he was, and his tail never stopped wagging.  He was adopted by Dr. Kellogg, and comes to work with him each and every day.

Specialists & Referrals

Dr. Kellogg and Dr. Byers have built professional relationships with many veterinary specialists in the Portland area. If the need arises for a board certified specialist, we are pleased to refer you to one. We will co-manage your pet’s care as appropriate, and will be kept up to date on treatment by phone and in writing.
